One week of Nothing.....
Penny PowerI have never experienced complete and utter relaxation and 'nothing' before in my adult life, and I now understand the concept and thank Cornelis De Maijer and the whoel team for it.
One thing about businesses like yours and ours, we never really know when to stop working. I wonder what our children will do when they go out into the workplace as they have parents who adapt their working life and while we are available for an enormous amount of their lives, the concept of taking the time off work like you would if you were employed does not feature. We go to watch their matches during the week when they are at school, we can be around more in school holidays, but it is tough for them to ever see us really switch off and do NOTHING!
We had never been on a sailing holiday. I guess for 3 children aged 18, 16 and 13 it was an exciting thought but at the same time a little worrying, who would know whether they would enjoy being on a boat for 7 days with no way off! We absolutely loved it, Cornelis and his team are a fantastic example who puts so much thought into every aspect of the customer experience.
Cornelis told us we would experience the 'concept of nothing'
The crew, the chef, the food, oh boy the food, and the attention to detail was incredible. Each morning we would assemble on the front deck and the captain would brief us on our day ahead, showing us on the map where we were going to sail to. We would enjoy a wonderful breakfast and set sail for the morning. Each stop at different bays we would swim and look at the views; each night we would stop at a quiet bay and enjoy dinner, with early to bed sleeping on deck under the stars. We would do nothing! They wold take us to places, we would enjoy the food they cooked and brought to us, but we would never be bored or restless, we would be still.
The concept of nothing sounds terrifying but it is the only way to really still your mind, refresh it and prepare for your year ahead. What I learned from Cornelis is that when you are totally taken care of, when you have no decisions to make, not even what you eat or where you go, you re-boot at a level that can only be described as life-changing in it's result.
We have returned home refreshed, loved and in love with life and ourselves, thank you Cornelis and the Flaka team, thank you so very much from the whole family, you introduced us to something new and we feel renewed.
